Recently relocated to Southern California, this GTV6 was originally purchased by a pilot in Ohio. In 1984, he sold it to the second owner, whose family cherished the car for the next 40 years until I acquired it in 2024. It currently has 24,074 original miles.
Upon arrival in California, the car underwent a comprehensive mechanical recommissioning by Alfa Performance Connection in Orange, which included:
New fuel pump and filter
New fuel tank
New water pump, timing belt, AC belt, and alternator belt
New spark plugs
New fuel lines and injector hoses; one injector replaced, along with new injector screws
New left rear brake caliper; brake fluid flushed
Replacement of engine and radiator bleed hoses
Fresh oil and filter
Transaxle fluid replaced
New vacuum hoses to the distributor
During this process, it was determined the clutch required replacement and the second-gear synchro was worn—a known issue with these cars. The vehicle was then sent to Alfa Italia in Burbank, where the following work was performed:
Installation of an upgraded clutch kit
Complete gearbox rebuild, including new synchro rings and seals
All receipts and documentation from the work are included.
Additionally, all vacuum lines were replaced, and a new silicone intake tube was installed (the original intake tube is retained and included). A custom side exhaust was fitted from the headers back to reduce heat buildup near the clutch, transaxle, and left rear brake caliper—an issue with the factory exhaust routing—while also enhancing the legendary sound of the Busso V6. An original Ansa exhaust is also included.
The body and paint appear original and present very well, with no major dents or dings. There are various small chips and scratches that have been touched up over the years, along with minor paint burn-through on some panel edges from past polishing (see photos).
The interior remains remarkably original, with no tears, cracks, or significant wear in the upholstery. The leather seats retain their original “candy cane” red and black piping, and the original carpeting is intact. The passenger armrest is loose at one end and likely needs a replacement screw. There are some cracks present on the top of the dash.
All gauges and electrical systems are fully functional, with the exception of the AC system which does not blow cold.
The GTV6 now runs and drives beautifully and is ready for many more miles of enjoyment. It passes California smog without issue and is sold with a clean California title and a clean Carfax history, free of any accident records.
