1981 DeLorean DMC-12 — 24,209 Original Miles | Garage Kept | Recently Serviced | CA Blue Plate Car
This DeLorean was owned by a long term California resident who lived in Orange County. The owner was active in the Delorean car scene, participating and showing the car at many events over the years. The car runs and drives as expected for a well-maintained DeLorean. Engine starts and runs well. The gearbox shifts well, and clutch feels healthy.
Mechanically, we have installed a new matched and balanced set of tires on all four wheels, and a new water pump assembly, including the immediate coolant lines connected to the pump, and replaced the lower ball joints and tie rod boots for both sides. Fresh oil and filter just replaced. The fuel pump assembly, fuel sending unit, and filter were replaced under previous ownership.
The car runs and drives well. Engine idles well, has good power through the rev range, and shifts through all gears without issue. No overheating issues, even when driving in hot Southern California 85 to 90 degree weather.
The stainless steel exterior is is in good condition overall. There are a few areas where the body has dings / dents (see images). The interior is in good original condition, however it does present some blemishes throughout (see images).
Known issues:
Passenger door window switch is inoperable. A/C is fully intact but not blowing cold. A retrofit to R-134a would bring the system current.
A straightforward, honest low-mileage California blue plate DeLorean with recent service, and long-term ownership. Sold with a clean California title.
